Introduction: Why is my computer so slow?
Using the System Information
Tool (msinfo32.exe)
Since Windows 98, Microsoft has included a
tool called msinfo32.exe. This is the system
information tool. The tool inventories your machine's
hardware and operating system to provide you with detailed
information about your PC.

Click the "Start" button.

Choose "Run..."

Type "msinfo32.exe" and click OK.

This will start the System Information tool.

Under "System Summary", you can identify the OS
type, amount of physical memory and
processor speed.

Under "Components/Storage/Drives" you can see how
much disk space you have on each of your hard
drives.
You can also use this tool to determine other
aspects of your system, including USB, video, etc. type
hardware.
